From 2017 to 2020, saki worked as a political contributor for CNN. Saki is the son of James Arsake and Eileen Dolan Medvie, and was born in Stamford, Connecticut. Her mother is a psychotherapist and her father is a retired real estate developer. She is of Irish, Greek, and Polish origin and has two younger sisters. In 1996, she graduated from Greenwich High School.
She is a member of the Chiomaga sorority at William and Mary and was a competitive backstroke swimmer for the William and Mary tribe sports team for two years. Saki began her career in 2001, working on the re-election campaigns of Iowa Democrats Tom Harkin for the United States Senate and Tom Vilsack for Governor.
From 2005 to 2006, she worked as the deputy press secretary for John Kerry’s 2004 presidential campaign. During the 2008 presidential campaign of US Senator Barack Obama, she worked as the communications director for US Representative Joseph Crowley and the regional press secretary for the Democratic congressional campaign committee.
After Obama’s election, Psaki became a deputy press secretary and was promoted to deputy communications director on December 19, 2009. On September 22, 2011, Psaki left this position to become senior vice president and managing director of the public relations firm Global Strategy Group in Washington, D.C.
In 2010, she married Gregory Metcher, a deputy finance director for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, and they had two children.
