Kliff Kingsbury is an American football coach and former quarterback who was hired as the head coach of the National Football League’s Arizona Cardinals (NFL).

He ended his collegiate career at Texas Tech University and was selected by the New England Patriots in the sixth round of the 2003 NFL Draft, 201st overall.

Coaching career

Kingsbury began his coaching career at Houston in 2008 and went on to teach at Texas A&M and Texas Tech. The New England Patriots selected Kingsbury 201st overall in Round 6 of the 2003 NFL Draft. He did not play in his debut season of 2003, instead of spending the year on injured reserve with the Patriots due to an arm ailment. However, the Patriots won the Super Bowl (XXXVII) in 2003, and Kingsbury received a Super Bowl ring as a result. In addition, on September 6, 2004, the Patriots waived him. He later played for the New Orleans Saints, Denver Broncos, New York Jets, and Buffalo Bills, among others.

In 2006, he also played for the NFL Europe’s Cologne Centurions. Finally, he played in the Canadian Football League in 2007.

In August 2008, Kingsbury was hired as the quality control coordinator for the University of Houston football team. Kingsbury joined the University of Houston football team as the Co-Offensive Coordinator and Quarterbacks Coach in 2010. He was named Offensive Coordinator of the Year in 2011.
Kingsbury went on to become the offensive coordinator for Texas A&M University in 2012. Kingsbury was named the 2012 Footballscoop.com Offensive Coordinator of the Year and a finalist for the Broyles Award for his efforts. Kingsbury was named the 15th full-time head coach at Texas Tech University on December 12, 2012. From 2013 until 2018, he was the head coach at Texas Tech University.

2020

Kingsbury led the Cardinals to their first victory of the 2020 NFL season, defeating the defending NFC champions San Francisco 49ers. It was Kingsbury’s first victory of the season. It was the Cardinals’ first victory in a Week 1 game since 2015. It was also Kingsbury’s sixth win as a head coach in the NFL.

2021

Kingsbury led the Cardinals to victory over the Tennessee Titans in their first away game of the 2021 NFL season. The Cardinals won their next game, a 34–33 triumph at home against the Minnesota Vikings.
