She is a three-time overall world cup winner and two-time Olympic gold medalist in alpine skiing from the United States. Jeff Safrin, her father, is a New Jersey native, and both of her parents are former skiers from the Northeast. Her mother, Ellen, raised her through high school, and she has an older brother, Taylor, who competed for the University of Denver alongside her grandparents, family, and parents.
She has excelled in minor tournaments since she was a child, and on March 11, 2011, she made her world cup debut. She won her first world cup race at the age of 17 in December 2012. In a single night’s le alone in Sweden, he became the second-youngest American to win an alpine world cup event. He is the only male or female athlete in history to win 15 events in a calendar year. She became the first male or female racer to win 17 world cup races in the 2019 season.
Two-time Olympic gold medalist
Mikaela Shiffrin is a world-class skier who has won two Olympic gold medals and three World Cup overall titles. Her specialties include slalom, giant slalom, and other disciplines. She won gold in slalom at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi and gold in giant slalom at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang. Shiffrin, who is only 18 years old, is the Olympics’ youngest slalom champion.
She’s also a four-time world slalom champion and a six-time World Cup champion. She has 11 World Championship medals to her credit, making her the most decorated alpine skier in history.
First appearance in the World Cup
Mikaela began her modeling career in December 2010 when she won the Nor-Am Cup super-combined race in Panorama, British Columbia. A year later, on March 11, 2011, she made her World Cup debut.
Victory in the World Cup Series for the first time
She became the youngest American ski racer to win a national alpine title when she won the slalom championship at the US National Championships in Winter Park, Colorado. She won her first World Cup Series title at the age of 17 in December 2012. Her career began to ascend the prosperous ladder after that. She added two more triumphs to her resume in less than a month.
Winner of gold and silver medals
Mikaela has also won gold medals at the World Championships in 2017 and Beaver Creek in 2015, as well as a silver medal in the 2017 Giant Slalom. At the 2018 Olympics, she won the gold medal in giant slalom and the silver medal in combined.
Mikaela became the youngest American ski racer to win a national alpine title at the age of 16, and she made her World Cup debut the following year.
